Atlantic Agricultural Fall Fair
2016 was the inaugural year for the Atlantic Agricultural Fall Fair. Formally the Maritime Fall Fair from 1990 - 2014, and the long tradition of the Atlantic Winter Fair from 1963 - 1998. The fair, first known as the Atlantic Winter Fair was initially held in Halifax at the Halifax Forum in 1963 and moved a couple of times before it relocated to its permanent home at Exhibition Park isn 1984. The fair then reopened under the new name of the Maritime Fall Fair in October 2000. In 2015, it was decided that the fair could not be held due to extensive winter damage to the facility and in 2016, the fair returned as the Atlantic Agricultural Fall Fair.
The Board of Directors engaged Saltscapes as the management company for this event, and brought to the fair some new and innovative concepts including an Inbound Trade Mission, a focus on innovation and business development and a concerted effort to bring agriculture to the city.
This new event was a success combining all the components of a traditional fair with a concept that created a business hub bringing together consumers, local businesses and international buyers to create a center of excellence for agriculture and its importance to the economy of Nova Scotia.
